The streaming giant offers a 30-day free trial to new customers, giving them ample time to explore the platform before deciding to subscribe.
2. Demos
Demos are another effective way to generate leads. This strategy enables potential customers to see your product in action and better understand how it works. This approach is helpful for complex products or requiring a certain level of expertise. Salesforce is a cloud-based software company that has used demos successfully. They offer a free platform demo, allowing users to see how it can be customised to fit their specific needs. You may also have a niche product that must be behind a client’s firewall or secured system and use its own data to make an educated decision on the product’s suitability for the organisation.

3. Samples
Providing samples can also be effective for certain types of businesses, particularly those that sell physical products. Samples allow potential customers to try out your product before making a purchase. Sephora is one beauty retailer that has used samples successfully. They offer free samples of their products both in-store and online, allowing customers to test out different products and find the ones that work best for them. Several of my clients on Amazon, eBay, Etsy, etc., use this approach with excellent results.
4. Combination Approach
While each of the above methods can be effective on its own, combining them can be even more powerful. For instance, offering a free trial followed by a demo can help potential customers get a better understanding of how your product works. Similarly, providing a sample along with a demo can give users a chance to try out your product while seeing it in action.
Adobe is one software company that has used a combination approach successfully. They offer a free trial of their Creative Cloud platform, followed by a demo that shows users how to get the most out of the software.
There are numerous approaches to offering free trials, demos, or samples to generate leads. Ultimately, the best strategy will depend on your specific product or service. You can find the right mix that works for your business by experimenting with different approaches and tracking your results.
